US President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday evening March 11 that travel from Europe to the United States will be suspended for 30 days from Friday to stem the epidemic from the coronavirus.

"To prevent new cases from entering our country, I will suspend all travel from Europe to the United States for the next 30 days"said the president in a solemn address in the Oval Office.

This new measure will come into force at midnight Friday (5 a.m. in France). It is not about the UK, said Donald Trump.

Helping American households

Donald Trump on Wednesday called on Congress to quickly pass wage tax cuts to help American households weather the economic impact of the Covid-19 epidemic. This proposal made by his administration at the beginning of the week did not have a very favorable response with elected officials, including his own party.

Mr. Trump also announced the postponement of the deadline for paying taxes for certain individuals and businesses, thereby reinjecting "$ 200 billion in additional cash in the economy".
