The European champions, beaten three times in the final of this competition, clinched their first world title in pain thanks to a late goal by Firmino at the 99e minute. The Brazilian striker had already scored in the club’s victory over Monterrey in the semi-finals.
Winners of the Champions League, the European Super Cup and current leader of the English Championship, the men of Jürgen Klopp thus conclude against the Brazilian club a superb year 2019. A victory which also allows them to obtain revenge, 38 years after their 3-0 loss to the Brazilian players.
