Weinstein Charged For Third Sexual Assault Case In Los Angeles

A new charge of sexual assault adds to two charges announced in January. Harvey Weinstein was charged on Friday, April 10, with a third sexual assault case in the Los Angeles prosecutor's investigation against the ex-Hollywood mogul. "We continue to build and strengthen our file"said Los Angeles Attorney Jackie Lacey.

Fallen producer, already imprisoned in New York State after being convicted of sexual assault and rape, must answer three charges of sexual assault in California courts, the office of the prosecutor said Los Angeles.

Producer faces up to twenty-nine years in prison

Mr. Weinstein is charged with sexually assaulting a woman who remained anonymous in Beverly Hills in May 2010. He was previously charged with breaking into a woman's hotel room to rape her on February 18, 2013, and then assaulted another the next day in a Beverly Hills hotel room. Mr. Weinstein denies the facts and assures that all of these relationships were agreed.

"If we find new evidence of crimes that were not known, as was the case here, we will investigate and determine if further charges are necessary", added Mme Lacey.

It is not known when the trial will start, but the prosecutor's office confirmed on Friday that it had launched a transfer request for Mr. Weinstein. “Upon his arrival, he will be charged (…). Once the trial date is set, the public will be informed ", says the press release. In this case, Harvey Weinstein faces up to twenty-nine years in prison.

Nearly 90 women have publicly accused Harvey Weinstein of harassment, sexual assault or rape to date. Most of the alleged facts are time-barred.
