IHe only has six months left. In six months, the Americans will have decided. Donald Trump will be reappointed for another four years, or he will be subjected to the humiliation of a defeat which will make him the equal in misfortune of Jimmy Carter and the late George H. W. Bush, beaten at the end of their first mandate. With an unemployment rate that has exploded to levels not seen since the end of the Second World War, the President of the United States is not leaving with the wind in his back. His slogan for the November campaign, "Keep America Big", is already good for the trash. That of 2016, "Make America Big Again" would be appropriate, but he feels warm.

By receiving exclusively Republican congressmen elected to the White House on Friday, May 8, Donald Trump displayed optimism at all costs. "We are going to rebuild (our country). We will rebuild it as soon as possible. I think we're going to have an incredible transition (…) And we are going to do a job like no one has seen before ", he assured. " I spoke with (German Chancellor) Angela Merkel today. I spoke with the Prime Minister (Shinzo) Abe of Japan. I have spoken with many leaders in the past four or five days. And almost all of them, I would say, all of us see us as the world leader, and they follow us ”said Donald Trump.

All-round optimism

This enthusiasm is nice to see, but the fate of Donald Trump is now a matter of trust. There are certainly armed groups that share its desire to reopen any country by demonstrating against the governors too cautious. We saw in North Carolina, on Saturday, one of these "Very good people", according to the president, carrying on the shoulder what could be an AT4 anti-tank rocket launcher (for single use) which it would be difficult to assimilate to a stick of speech for serene debates. But the success of Donald Trump's recovery will depend on the degree of confidence he will or will not be able to instill in American opinion.

Suffice to say right away, work remains to be done. Since Friday, three pillars of the task force set up to fight against the Covid-19 are more or less in quarantine: Anthony Fauci, the chief immunologist of the United States, but also the boss of the Centers for control and disease prevention (CDC) and food and drug administration (FDA). A precautionary measure after the detection of two positive cases at the White House. This discovery was worth an immediate screening test to the journalists present this day (it was prompt and painless).
