On the occasion of a visit to Paris, Thursday March 11, John Kerry, the United States special envoy for the climate, gave an interview to the World. He calls for winning the climate battle by making the decade 2020-2030 a “Decade of action”. During his tour in Europe, he notably met the French President, Emmanuel Macron, the British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen in order to strengthen cooperation between Europe and the States United in climate matters. I don’t think the future will be based on trust, but it will be based on the actions that are taken. What happened in America over the past four years was an aberration, a horrible moment that I hope and believe will not be repeated.

From now on, no politician will be able to reverse what is happening in the global economy: the billions, even the trillions of dollars which are starting to be invested, the movement of multinationals and their CEOs who are setting themselves up. net zero emissions targets [de CO2] in 2050, or the steps they are taking to green their businesses and investments. It will be so deep, there will be so many jobs created in so many economies around the world, that no government or administration can change what more than 196 countries are doing.

Donald Trump himself did not succeed, because 37 governors and more than a thousand mayors in the United States continued to remain in the Paris agreement. This movement will gain momentum in the coming months. People should not worry about the irreversible aspect of this change, because the market, the jobs, the economy will make the future of it. It will not be the choice of a politician, but that of billions of people on the planet.
