While the Iowa caucus, the first leg of the Democratic nomination contest for the presidential election of November 3, was held on February 3, "Le Monde" launches its campaign logbook. A daily update, five days a week until September, with campaign facts, political advertisements, polls, maps and figures that allow you to follow and experience the most important electoral competition in the world.

Boosted by his overwhelming victory at the South Carolina primary on February 29, former vice president Joe Biden posted himself on Monday March 2 in Texas, with two of his competitors coming to support him after ending on their candidacy: Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar. Joe Biden was thus able to stage a rallying image on the eve of Super Tuesday scheduled for Tuesday in fourteen states, in addition to the American territory of Samoa and the vote of Americans residing abroad. Pete Buttigieg assured that Joe Biden would be " a president who will get the best out of each of us ".

Coming the day after the latter's withdrawal on Sunday, that of the Minnesota senator, Monday in the middle of the day, surprised. The latter has indeed decided not to wait for the results of his State, which was to vote on Tuesday. His resignation came as campaign ads touting the qualities of Amy Klobuchar continued to run on Monday.

She was not the only one to join her former opponent on Monday. The first candidate to drop former Texas representative Beto O’Rourke in September also supported the former vice president. Even more significant, Barack Obama's former national security adviser Susan Rice did the same.

The former president still enjoys a flattering image within his party, but has so far refused to engage in the internal Democratic battle, clearly reserving his forces for the campaign against Donald Trump.

Bernie Sanders noted the rallies at a meeting in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he urged crowds not to boo Joe Biden and invited supporters of his rivals to join him. "To the millions of supporters of Amy and Pete, the door is open. Come ! We all share the understanding that together we will beat Donald Trump ", He assured.

One of the senator's advisers, Jeff Weaver, was less diplomatic in commenting on these rallies. "It is becoming increasingly clear that applicants funded by large sums of money and super PACs (political action committees) come together behind Joe Biden, and it's not a surprise ", did he declare. A taste no doubt of the harshness of the coming campaign.
