Donald Trump targeted by a complaint from two police officers for the assault on the Capitol

The former US president is not done with justice. Two Capitol Hill police officers have filed a complaint against Donald Trump for having incited the violent assault launched on January 6, 2021 against the American institution. A police officer died and dozens of others were injured during this episode which deeply marked America.

Police were overwhelmed by the mob of pro-Trump assailants on January 6, 2021, on Capitol Hill in Washington.

The two men behind the complaint, James Blassingame and Sidney Hemby, say they suffered “Physical and psychological injuries” during the clashes, fomented, according to them, by Donald Trump, then still president, who refused to recognize his defeat against Joe Biden. Supporters of the real estate mogul had gathered in Washington on January 6 to try to prevent the certification of the results of the presidential election then underway in Congress.

A crowd white-hot by Donald Trump

“The insurgents were encouraged by Mr. Trump over the past few months, which has led his supporters to believe his false claims that he was about to be kicked out of the White House due to massive electoral fraud ”, they point out in the complaint filed in federal court in Washington.

“The insurgent crowd, which Mr. Trump heated up, encouraged, incited, guided, aided and complicit in, forced his way through the plaintiffs and their colleagues, pursuing and assaulting them ”, they continue.

James Blassingame, an African-American policeman who had worked for the Capitol Police for seventeen years, says he suffered head and back injuries and suffered psychological damage as a result of the event. He also claims to have suffered racist insults from supporters of the former president.

Sidney Hemby, in office for eleven years, was shot in the hands and knees after being crushed against the gates of the Capitol and was sprayed with chemicals to his face and body during the assault.

“Agent Hemby is normally calm demeanor, but he struggled to deal with the psychological fallout from the relentless attacks.”, underlines the complaint, which lists all the occasions during which Donald Trump seemed to encourage the insurgency.

The two agents are demanding compensation of at least $ 75,000 each, as well as a fine of an unspecified sum.

The president is already being sued by elected officials for the assault on Congress.
