Barack Obama announces support for Joe Biden in the race for the White House

Former President Barack Obama said on Tuesday April 14 his support for Joe Biden, deeming the Democratic candidate for the White House capable of guiding the Americans "Through some of our darkest hours", in a country bereaved by the coronavirus crisis.

"And I think Joe has all the qualities we need in a president right now"Barack Obama said in a video and statement. "Joe has the temper and the experience to guide us through some of our darkest hours and heal us in a long recovery", he added, "And that is why I am proud to support Joe Biden to become president of the United States".

Still very popular with Democrats, he offers significant support to his 77-year-old former vice president, who must rally the party if he wants to beat Donald Trump on November 3.
