From the remonstrances of Churchill in the 1920s to the anger of Boris Johnson during the “partygate”, the “beeb” has learned to hold its line despite the phone calls of the powerful. Today, it is no longer just its independence that is targeted, but its budget that is undergoing repeated cuts.
