TheBrexit is a land of paradoxes. In June 2016, the British voted to leave the European Union (EU), but they do not want to move away from it.

Head of government in the aftermath of the fateful referendum, Theresa May spoke out for a hard Brexit – we're leaving. But on this theme, the voters have disowned her: she lost her majority in the elections of May 2017. Boris Johnson, his successor conservative, swore that he owed nothing in Brussels, but he just signed a deal advantageous divorce for the EU.

On this key question of the future of the United Kingdom, Jeremy Corbyn, the leader of the Labor opposition, has no opinion. Or do not say what he thinks. It displays a loose neutrality. At 37%, his constituents voted Brexit; more than two-thirds, Labor activists and parliamentarians are against divorce, as well as the big TUC union center. The latest in paradoxes is not the least. Thursday, December 12, for the third time in five years, the British will vote and, this year, for a capital general election: it can lead to an effective Brexit, which will weaken the unity of the kingdom, or a new referendum.

"This is the most important poll since the end of the Second World War World ' Judge Robert Shrimley, great manitou of domestic politics in Financial Times. But the two men supposed to embody this issue, Johnson and Corbyn, are among the least respected political figures in the kingdom. The first goes for a compulsive liar, a charlatan of charm; the second, for a leftist zealot, a nostalgic of the very old left.

In the midst of a poor economic situation, they promise a major change for the future. With them, the United Kingdom will not be quite the same. We will take the Eurostar for a different country. Some unknown is at the end of the ballot.

The conservative guarantees the exit of the EU, the Labor, the exit – partial – of the market economy and, in the case of Brexit, Corbyn will see later. The opinion is volatile. Since 2016, one million new voters are registered. Commentators are cautious but polls give Johnson the lead.

To the British exhausted by three years of political psychodrama, the curator sends a single message: "Let's implement Brexit. " Basically, let's finish it and get out of this mess. In October, the Prime Minister concluded a first agreement with the EU on the modalities of divorce – a text he had torpedoed and called "Surrender" when it was presented at the end of 2018, by Theresa May … Intellectual honesty is not the first characteristic of Boris Johnson. If he wins the elections of 12, he committed to complete in twelve months the agreement that will define future relations, including trade, between London and the Twenty-Seven. After which, vogue global Britain, finally freed from the chains and iron balls that linked it to the EU. The Johnson program is simple, effective and is likely to meet the expectations of many voters.
