UK Finance Minister Kwasi Kwarteng and Prime Minister Liz Truss, October 2, 2022.

British Finance Minister Kwasi Kwarteng has been removed from his post in the midst of an economic and political crisis, several British media announced on Friday October 14, including The Guardian and the BBC. At the end of the morning, Mr. Kwarteng went to Downing Street, after returning earlier than expected from Washington where he was attending the annual meetings of the IMF (International Monetary Fund) and the World Bank. Thursday, he said he was convinced that he would remain in his post.

In the hot seat after only 38 days in power, British Prime Minister Liz Truss will hold a press conference on Friday afternoon. Also according to the British press, some deputies from his own camp are already maneuvering to oust him, in the face of disastrous polls which announce a crushing defeat for the majority before the next general elections scheduled for 2024.
