Israel to vaccinate Palestinians who have work permits

The pandemic of the new coronavirus has killed more than 2,526,000 people worldwide, according to a report established by Agence France-Presse (AFP) from official sources, Sunday February 28.

Israeli authorities announced on Sunday February 28 that Israel would vaccinate 100,000 Palestinians working on Israeli soil or in the occupied territories in the West Bank against Covid-19.

The Cogat, the body of the defense ministry which supervises civilian activities in the occupied territories, specified that this vaccination campaign, carried out with the Israeli ministry of health, would begin in the ” next days “ at points of entry from the occupied West Bank to Israel and into “Industrial zones” Israeli settlements.

More than 4.65 million Israelis (50% of the population) have received at least a first dose since the launch, on December 19, of a campaign in favor of an agreement with the laboratory Pfizer. The Palestinians, on the other hand, received just over 30,000 doses of vaccines, including 2,000 from Israel, which pledged to provide them with 5,000.

A controversy swelled last week in Israel, because the Prime Minister, who had assured that the stocks of vaccines were sufficient for his population, wanted to distribute the surpluses for “Buy goodwill” from friendly countries. An initiative blocked Thursday by the justice ministry.

  • In Hungary, Viktor Orban received the Chinese vaccine Sinopharm

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has been vaccinated against Covid-19 with the vaccine from Chinese laboratory Sinopharm; Hungary this week became the first country in the European Union to use it. He immortalized this injection with a photo and a video on Facebook. President Janos Ader was also administered this vaccine on Friday.

Hungary started using the Sinopharm vaccine on Wednesday, after having already distinguished itself by using the Russian vaccine Sputnik V without waiting for the green light from the European Medicines Agency, considered too slow by Mr. Orban. Nearly half a million Hungarians have received at least one dose of the vaccine, mainly from Pfizer, but the arrival of Chinese batches should make it possible to quickly gain momentum, even if the population remains reluctant to face this vaccine.

  • In the United States, children “very probably” vaccinated in early 2022

White House adviser Anthony Fauci announced on Sunday that American children under 12 could ” very probably “ be vaccinated at the start of the first trimester of 2022, perhaps as early as the fall of 2021. The subject is crucial in the country, where millions of children are still receiving distance education.

Since Saturday, the American drug agency, the FDA, has issued its authorization for a third vaccine, that of Johnson & Johnson, which has the advantage of being single-dose and storable in the refrigerator. But neither this one, nor the two others already widely deployed, Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna, are currently not administrable to under 16s.
