Podcast. How George Floyd’s death changed America

On April 20, 2021, in court in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Constable Derek Chauvin was convicted of murder, manslaughter and intentional assault. On May 25, 2020, he had kept his knee on George Floyd’s neck for nine long minutes, despite his pleas. In the following weeks, protests rocked the United States, denouncing the racism of American society and the police.

“Today, we are making history”, said the lawyer for the Floyd family after the verdict. “Our country is finally starting to keep the promise of equal justice for all citizens… It is the sacrifice of a life that will have made this moment possible in the history of the United States. “
