In Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro appoints a reserve soldier to preside over Petrobras

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro on Friday, February 19, appointed a reserve soldier to head the state-owned oil group Petrobras, after criticizing recent increases in fuel prices.

“The government has decided to appoint Joaquim Silva e Luna to accomplish a new mission as board of directors and chairman of Petrobras”, replacing Roberto Castello Branco, according to a statement from the Ministry of Mines and Energy posted on Mr. Bolsonaro’s Facebook page.
