An armed man killed more than ten people on the night of Saturday April 18 to Sunday April 19 in Nova Scotia (eastern Canada), including one policewoman, before he was killed, several Canadian media reported on Sunday.

"I can't give you the details tonight but there are more than 10" dead in several parts of the province, a federal police spokesman said at a press conference in Dartsmouth.

The 51-year-old man was arrested on Sunday after a dozen-hour manhunt, police said in a Twitter message.

The man has been on the run since Saturday night after police learned of an armed person in the village of Portapique, Nova Scotia, police said in a Twitter message. The man, "Dangerous and armed"was later seen in a police car-like vehicle before finally changing it, authorities said. He was also dressed in a police uniform, they said, adding that he was not one.

One policewoman was killed, in circumstances which have not been specified, and another policewoman was injured.
