Donald Trump’s travels reveal his options for victory

As the presidential election on November 3 approaches, The world keeps the campaign log. A daily update, with campaign facts, political advertisements, polls, maps and figures that allow you to follow and experience the most important electoral competition in the world.

Distanced in voting intentions at the national level, even if they are only indicative, barely in many key states, including in some largely won four years ago, Donald Trump does not address the last two weeks of the presidential campaign in a position of strength. The energy expended during the past week, the first devoted entirely to almost daily meetings since his lightning recovery, and the program announced for the days to come show, however, that the outgoing president has not given up on victory.

His supporters are betting again on a surprise the size of that of 2016 when he denied the algorithms of electoral experts who gave his opponent, Hillary Clinton, the greatest probabilities of reaching the White House. The venues chosen for the town halls that had been one of the main components of his success, as well as the spending choices on television commercials, make it clear where Donald Trump hopes to find the 270 voters in the Electoral College (which has 538) synonymous with a second term in the White House.

Donald Trump’s options are based first of all on the conservation of three major states, Florida, Ohio, Georgia, as well as Iowa. They concern a total of 69 major voters. Joe Biden’s lead in the top two, and in Iowa, is less than the margin of error in recent polls. These 69 voters are in addition to the 163 the incumbent president is expected to obtain in Republican strongholds in the midwest and southern United States.

To get the 38 missing voters, Donald Trump is clearly betting on a handful of states. These are Nevada where he attended a very political mass on Sunday, Arizona where he is due to go on Monday, Pennsylvania which he has not stopped walking for weeks and where he will go again. Tuesday, and finally from North Carolina, scheduled for Wednesday’s agenda. Winning these four states would ensure the gain of 52 electors, synonymous with success on the evening of November 3, or in the following days if the counting operations stretch over time because of the number of postal votes.
