Following their release, the local police were seized of the file, which was entrusted to state investigators. Two days later, they arrested and charged with murder the two people who appear on the film: Gregory McMichael, 64, and his son Travis, 34.

According to his family, the young man was just jogging and was the victim of a racist crime, then stifled by a complacent police and justice system.

Since the video was broadcast, demonstrators and Internet users, gathered behind the slogan #IrunwithMaud (I am running with Maud, the young man's nickname) have been demanding accounts. State police have recently been tasked with investigating the errors of the original investigation.
