the Marseille-Paris match broadcast on Sunday by Canal +, in addition to Téléfoot

Football fans wondered where they could see the top of Ligue 1 between Marseille and Paris-Saint-Germain, Sunday at 9 p.m., while the question of the rights of the Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 championships is the subject of an intense battle. The shock will finally be broadcast by Canal + in codiffusion with Téléfoot, the Mediapro channel, announced the Professional Football League (LFP), Wednesday February 3.

The meeting of the 24e Ligue 1 day was initially part of the batches of matches held by the Sino-Spanish group Mediapro, the failing broadcaster of French football which the Telefoot channel continues to broadcast. And the LFP also attributed this match to the encrypted channel at the end “A market consultation initiated this Wednesday”, she detailed in a statement.

The LFP said on Wednesday evening that TF1, M6 and France Télévisions had all submitted an offer “Of very high quality” for this meeting at the top of Ligue 1.

Téléfoot will broadcast its matches as usual

This co-broadcasting system, already set up exceptionally for the Champions Trophy on January 13 (won by Paris against Marseille 2 to 1), comes in the midst of a crisis in television rights, while the Professional Football League has still not reallocated the batches of matches abandoned by Mediapro, unable to honor its payments this fall.

Worse, this comes at a time of legal conflict between the Vivendi subsidiary and the LFP, the former having refused to participate in a call for tenders launched by the latter, Monday 1er February, on the Mediapro lots. Canal + had estimated that only a global call for tenders, including the matches it already broadcasts, was likely to allow the remarketing of the rights to the French Championship.

Mediapro and Téléfoot have also indicated that they will also broadcast the seven other Ligue 1 matches of the 24e day which appear on their grid, as well as the usual eight Ligue 2 matches.
