The championship match originally scheduled for October 26, the day of a pro-independence demonstration in Barcelona, will finally take place on December 18th.
The postponement of the football match between FC Barcelona-Real Madrid, initially scheduled for October 26 at Camp Nou in Barcelona, was announced a few days ago, because of the holding of a demonstration that day in the capital Catalan by pro-independence organizations protesting the heavy condemnation of separatist leaders.
On Wednesday, October 23, the Spanish Federation announced that it has set 18 December as the new date for the "clasico", the most watched club match in the world.
The Spanish league had initially proposed to play the match in Madrid, and organize the return match in Barcelona in March, but both clubs refused. She then proposed December 4, to avoid eclipsing King Cup matches scheduled December 18.
The federation explained that it made its decision "After analyzing in recent days the proposals of both clubs"who both suggested this date.
About 600 people were injured in Catalonia in the violent clashes following demonstrations since 14 October.
