second consecutive draw for the Blues in qualifying for the 2022 World Cup

Fifth draw in a row for the Blues

Always feverish and uninspired, the Blues signed a new draw in their qualifications for the 2022 World Cup, Saturday in Ukraine (1-1), struggling to evacuate the doubts that accompany them since the Euro.

Led at the end of the first period thanks to a skylight Shaparenko ogive, the reigning world champions responded from the start of the second act with a goal from Anthony Martial, his second under the national tunic after 29 caps. Sharper after the equalizer, the French failed to win despite some opportunities (especially thanks to the entries of Benzema and Diaby), in a stadium in Kiev where they never won.

Martial wins his duel against Pyatov.

The reigning world champions are now on a streak of five games without a win, a first since September 2013. With this draw, the Blues retain the lead in Group D ahead of Finland, second at four points.

With two wins and three draws, the Blues certainly retain their first place in Group D and their lead of four points over the Ukrainians. But a new opponent is threatening: Finland.

Victorious in the afternoon of Kazakhstan (1-0), the Finns have two matches less than the Blues and are only four points behind, before going to Lyon on Tuesday (8:45 p.m.) to challenge the French team.
