PSG spoils but is reassured in Reims

PSG have found their “Fantastic Four” in Reims: Icardi, Neymar, Mbappé and Di Maria.

Paris-Saint-Germain chained a third consecutive success, Sunday, September 27, in Reims (2-0). An evening marked by the return of the “Fantastic Four” and the double of the Argentinian Mauro Icardi, scorer for the first time in seven months.

Three more points, and a consolidated place in the first half of the ranking: PSG, now seventh after the 5e day one point off the podium, continues to catch up game after game the delay resulting from its two inaugural defeats. By winning at the Auguste-Delaune stadium, where their last success in the Championship dates back to 2013, Thomas Tuchel’s men have passed a solidity test seriously, but waste.

The presence at the kickoff of its four offensive stars (Neymar, Mbappé, Icardi, Di Maria), for the first time since July 24, nevertheless suggested a more cheerful evening in Champagne. Si Mauro Icardi, the Goleador of the band, scored a brace (9e, 62e), the PSG was also slow to take shelter

The Argentinian thus managed the break two minutes after Rémois Boulaye Dia touched the post (60e), summarizing the state of this road roller some mechanisms of which are still lacking in oil.

Neymar Slalom

Realism has been the cute sin of PSG: between Neymar (43e, 90e), Kylian Mbappé (6e, 82e), Angel di Maria (15e), Julian Draxler (12e), or Pablo Sarabia (87e), Paris multiplied the inaccuracies that kept Reims in the match.

At the end of a summer that questioned his contribution, Icardi scored his first goals since February 29. He took advantage of a nice opening from Mbappé to unlock his counter. And it is again the former Monegasque who offered him the 2-0 (62e), before its release in the last quarter of an hour.

Mbappé also combined well with Neymar, the Brazilian rewarding the Reims public with a few dribbles of which he is the expert. “Ney” was not far from scoring the goal at the start of the season, at the end of a 40-meter slalom where he dropped three defenders before seeing his shot graze the post (43e).

But the suspension of four games from Tuesday of Di Maria, for a spitting against OM, and that feared for Neymar prevent the fans from rejoicing too much: Paris must still wait to reach its cruising speed.
