PSG beaten in Nice, before moving to Madrid

The people of Nice celebrate their victory at the end of the match between them and Paris-Saint Germain (PSG), at the Allianz Riviera stadium in Nice, March 5, 2022.

During the 27and day of the French championship, Saturday March 5, PSG hoped for a victory in order to go calmly to Madrid, Wednesday, to play their 8and final return in the Champions League. But OGC Nice, now runners-up in Ligue 1, reminded the Parisians of their vulnerability, beating them 1-0 after a lackluster match.

At the end of the second period, everything indicated that Nice and Parisians could be satisfied with a 0-0 which preserved everyone’s interests. A half-volley from Andy Delort (88and) after a counterattack, which began after Neymar lost the ball, cost Paris-Saint-Germain their third Ligue 1 defeat of the season.

Kylian Mbappé, suspended, has missed his team a lot. Without the PSG star striker, the match remained gloomy at the Allianz Riviera, before Delort’s goal. Angel Di Maria and Neymar were disappointing, but Lionel Messi managed some well-thought dribbles and passes, auguring well before returning to the Santiago Bernabeu, a stadium where he often shone with FC Barcelona.

PSG retains the lead, Lyon 6and

This result does not change Paris Saint-Germain’s ranking much. The leader still has a thirteen-point lead over his winner of the day, but this failure can hurt morale four days away from defending his first leg advantage in Madrid (1-0).

Fifteen days earlier, PSG had also lost in Nantes. “You should not worry, we are first, warned captain Marquinhos at the microphone of the Plus channel, but it should not be a habit to start losing outside. »

Christophe Galtier’s team is second, now two points behind Olympique de Marseille, who play in Monaco on Sunday (8:45 p.m.). At the Bollaert stadium, Brest won 1-0, causing RC Lens to lose their 7and place, in favor of OM Lyon, who won 4-1 in Lorient on Friday.
