Pape Diouf, ex-president of Olympique de Marseille, died of Covid-19

He is a new victim of the coronavirus epidemic. Affected by Covid-19, the ex-president of Olympique de Marseille (OM) Pape Diouf is dead, family agency Agence France-Presse learned on Tuesday. His death was confirmed by RTS, the public television channel in Senegal. He was 68 years old.

Hospitalized in Dakar, where he was on respiratory assistance, Pape Diouf was to be repatriated from Dakar to Nice by medical plane but his condition deteriorated, the plane could not take off and he died on Senegalese soil, a have we learned from the same source.

A former journalist, player agent and then director of OM, from 2005 to 2009, Diouf had notably helped to build the team champion of France in 2010, after 17 years without titles for OM.
