Monaco thanked their coach Niko Kovac following an interview, Agence France-Presse learned Thursday, December 30 from sources close to the club, confirming information from The team and RMC Sports. The Croatian coach was under contract with the Principality’s club until June 2023. He was received Thursday evening by his management, who informed him of his decision to put an immediate end to his mission.

Niko Kovac, who arrived in Monaco in the summer of 2020, pays for the club’s lack of results (6e Ligue 1), eliminated in the preliminary round of the Champions League. He was also weakened by his relations which had become complicated with certain executives of the team, including the captain, the French international Wissam Ben Yedder.

Monaco play Sunday a 16e of the Coupe de France in Rouen against the Quevilly-Rouen team, playing in Ligue 2.
