Lyon in slow motion: still slow at home, OL were neutralized Sunday February 16 by Strasbourg (1-1) and chained a fourth game in a row without a win in L1. The Lyonnais were even saved twice by the amounts at the end of the match, worrying ten days before the reception of Juventus Turin for their round of 16 first leg of the Champions League.

At Décines-Charpieu, the Lyonnais quickly took the advantage on a diving head from Bertrand Traoré (22e). But Kenny Tete's misalignment allowed Kévin Zohi, an edge offside, to equalize with the help of video refereeing (44e). Lyon have won just four times at home in 11 games this season in Ligue 1.

Rudi Garcia’s team continues to flounder in the soft stomach of the standings (11e), far from the stated objective of getting on the podium and winning a new qualification for the Champions League next season.

Still engaged on four tables, OL can start to worry for the rest of its season, especially as it sees in ten days the reception of Juventus Turin from Cristiano Ronaldo in 8e Champions League finals…

Rennes at a standstill, Saint-Etienne in danger

The Rennes mark the pace in the league with only one point in their last three games. After a defeat in Lille, then a draw against Brest, the partners of world champion Steven Nzonzi, for his first tenure in Ligue 1 of his career, fell against Reims, after a penalty from El Bilal Touré to a quarter of 'end time. Third place for Bretons is now under threat from Lille.

The best defense in Ligue 1, Reims, still held its rank and allows the Champenois to go back to the 9e ranking place.

Rennes' future opponent in the semi-finals of the Coupe de France, Saint-Etienne, was not at the party either. Claude Puel’s men are even slipping dangerously towards the place de barragiste: they are only two points ahead of Dijon, 18e. The pride of the Greens, led 3-0 at half time, was not enough: they scored only two goals, by Denis Bouanga from the penalty spot and then by Loïs Diony.

A new crisis is brewing in Saint-Etienne, which has already separated once from its coach this season. The Greens are four straight defeats in the league, where they have won only once in their last nine games, before receiving Reims and the derby against Lyon. On the contrary, Brest, 13e, gives himself air with seven steps ahead of Dijon.
