Lille takes the lead, PSG now third

Thanks to its success over Bordeaux at home on Sunday, December 13, Lille seized first place in the Ligue 1 standings. Lyon took second, relegating PSG to third position in this 14e day.

Lille defender José Fonte (number 6) celebrates the winning goal against Bordeaux, Sunday, December 13 (2-1) and temporarily gives first place in the standings to his club.

More than a second victory in a row in the league, on the same score as last week against Monaco (2-1), the Lille have especially offered the chair of leader, dominating Bordeaux at home.

Superior in all areas of the game against the Girondins, the LOSC first opened the scoring on a curled shot at the entrance to the surface of Jonathan Bamba in the quarter of an hour of play. And if the Bordelais thought of returning in the locker room after equalizing by Toma Basic, the Portuguese José Fonte gave Lille the advantage with a powerful header at the near post just before the break, from a corner (2-1, 45e). At 36, the Lille captain became the oldest scorer in LOSC history in the league. Not very bright the rest of the meeting, the Northerners confirmed their solid exercise since the start of the season, while Bordeaux fell by one rank (11e).

Neymar, hit in an ankle, went out on a stretcher.

Nightmarish evening for Paris-Saint-Germain, who lost (1-0) on a single goal from Lyonnais Tino Kadewere (35e), author of his fifth goal in 13 Ligue 1. Uninspired, PSG, who had preferred to do without Kylian Mbappé in the first period, suffered the cold realism of the Lyonnais who then resisted in the second period. PSG had already lost at home in L1 this season, in September, during the 3e day against OM (1-0).

The Parisians have given up their leader’s chair and find themselves third in the standings, doubled by Lyon. But above all, they lost their superstar, the Brazilian Neymar, hard tackled to an ankle and left on a stretcher at the very end of the meeting.

Rennais Mbaye Niang (center) opened his goal counter this season in Ligue 1 against Nice.

Rennes regains color. Traveling on the field of Nice for a duel between two teams in poor shape, the Bretons ended a series of eight games without a win in all competitions. Taking advantage of the imbalances in the Riviera ranks, they alerted Walter Benitez for the first time, before defender Adrien Truffert served Mbaye Niang for his first goal of the season (0-1, 28e). The Rennais grab a place in the standings (8e) and plunge their opponents of the day a little more into doubt. “The important thing is always the next match”, moderated the Nice coach, Adrian Ursea, for his first at home on the bench, with a view to the meeting next weekend at the relegation Nîmes.

Separated from their coach Christian Gourcuff, fired, Tuesday, December 8, after a series of poor results, the Nantes people were not really reassured in the face of the Dijon red lantern. Moussé Konaté responded in the second half when the Canaries opened the scoring from a penalty early in the match. This sharing of points will undoubtedly not calm the 250 to 300 Nantes supporters who came to express their anger before the meeting with regard to the president of the club, Waldemar Kita, near the Beaujoire stadium.

Brest is continuing its good start to the season. At home, Olivier Dall’Oglio’s men won in pain against Reims. They clinched the victory late in the game thanks to their center forward Steve Mounié, who missed a penalty shortly before half-time. The scenario is cruel for the Champenois, who had equalized with a beautiful direct corner (65e), and which fall to the penultimate place in the standings.

Yoane Wissa (2nd on the left) is congratulated by his partners after having sealed the victory of Lorient over Nîmes at the end of the game (3-0).

On his lawn at Moustoir, Lorient is relaunching in the most beautiful way against Nîmes. In this match between two teams who are fighting for maintenance this season, the Hakes made it easier for themselves by opening the scoring in the 2e minute of play by Boisgard after a long breakthrough by Armand Laurienté. Before Pierre-Yves Hamel breaks from the penalty spot (28e), then that Yoane Wissa does not increase the score at the end of the game (89e). After this match, Lorient offers himself a breath outside the relegation zone (17e), in which the Crocodiles dive (18e).

No winner between the rivals of the East, Strasbourg and Metz. After causing two penalties – only one will be transformed by Dylan Bronn (35e) -, Strasbourg defender Mohamed Simakan made it possible to pick up the score with a header (66e). Three minutes before Opa Nguette restores the advantage to the Grenats, then Adrien Thomasson puts the two teams tied (78e). If Racing leaves the red zone (16e), Metz, he remains 13e.
