It’s the end of a soap opera that animated French football during the confinement. The four club presidents appointed by the office of the Professional Football League (LFP), Nasser al-Khelaïfi (PSG), Jacques-Henri Eyraud (OM), Olivier Sadran (Toulouse) and Jean-Pierre Rivère (Nice), are reached an agreement with Canal + and BeIN Sports this Friday.

The LFP and Canal + announced in a press release that they had reached an agreement on the payment of TV rights for the matches already broadcast in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, estimated at 43 million euros.
Due to the cessation of competition caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the encrypted channel had warned the LFP in late March of its intention not to honor its next payment of TV rights estimated at 110 million euros and expected April 5. BeIN Sports, the other broadcaster of the championship, has also agreed to settle its deal for the matches already broadcast, an amount estimated at 15 million euros.

The announcement comes as Ligue 1 hopes to resume training during the week of May 11, following the gradual lifting of containment, before a possible restart of competition in mid-June. The next draft, totaling 140 million euros (split between Canal + and BeIN Sports), is expected on June 5.
