Origin of debt

In the summer of 2019, the press revealed that the Spanish tax authorities claimed some 35 million from the player in a case of tax evasion during his time at FC Barcelona, but the information had so far never been officially confirmed. .

The Public Treasury, which confirmed that Neymar appeared for the first time on this blacklist, did not however specify what this debt corresponded to and whether it was linked to his transfer in 2013 to Barça.

However, he said that it was necessary to meet several criteria such as exceeding the deadline to pay the debt or the absence of payment in December 2019 to be among these bad payers. The document published on Wednesday brings together thousands of individuals and companies presenting a “Debt greater than 1 million euros” according to the Spanish tax authorities, interviewed by Agence France-Presse.
