“Several positive cases” for Covid-19 at Racing 92, qualified for the European Cup final

From three players positive for Covid-19 over seven rolling days, a meeting must in principle be postponed according to the procedure put in place by the League.

Two weeks away from playing a European Rugby Cup final against the Englishmen of Exeter in Bristol, England on October 17, Racing 92 carried out tests to detect Covid-19 which revealed nine positive cases in its group, reported Thursday 1er October a source close to the case, confirming information from the Olympic noon.

For its part, the club confirmed “Several positive cases” to the new coronavirus, without however specifying the exact number, or whether they are players or members of the management. The source close to the case could not specify either whether the infections concerned rugby players or members of the staff.

“Tests carried out on the whole group on Wednesday morning revealed several positive cases. We are now awaiting the recommendations of the LNR (National Rugby League), which we will apply with all the necessary rigor ”, explains the current leader of the French championship (Top 14) in a press release.

Probable carry over

According to the protocol put in place by the LNR, the trip of the Ile-de-France club scheduled for Saturday in La Rochelle, on the occasion of the 3e Top 14 day, should most likely be postponed to a later date.
