Gaël Monfils, 9e is the third player to take the most ATP points since the start of 2020, only ahead of the two Australian Open finalists, the Serbian Novak Djokovic and the Austrian Dominic Thiem, both only players to have beaten him this season.

A week after his victory in Montpellier, Gaël Monfils scored twice: the Frenchman retained his title at the Rotterdam tournament on Sunday February 16 by defeating the young Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime (6-2, 6-4). Monfils is having a great time and has just strung eight games unbeaten to play his 31e final on the pro circuit (for 10 titles in total now).

In Rotterdam, he faced a solid opponent. Auger-Aliassime, 19 and 21e world, had been impressive all week, making speak his powerful strike. It was his second final on the ATP circuit after the one lost last year on the land of Rio.

Monfils managed to take the service of his opponent at 5e game of the first round. A break that made his opponent lose his tennis, author of signs of nervousness to the point of losing in the first round (6-2). The Frenchman then escaped from scoring in the second inning for a loose victory (6-4) after having overused several match points at 5-2.

"I was very happy to play another final in Rotterdam. Félix (Auger-Aliassime) is a young player that I really appreciate, who is very talented and who we will review at this level very regularly ", assured Gaël Monfils.
