Monday February 22 was announced the signing of an agreement between Moët Hennessy, division of LVMH, and rapper Jay-Z, the latter ceding to the world’s leading luxury goods group half of the shares of his champagne brand, Armand de Brignac. In 2014, the musician had invested $ 200 million in the company, which he regularly shows the bottles in his videos. Jay-Z also owns stakes in nightclubs, music labels and a booming ready-to-wear brand, Rocawear.

A childhood in New York

Jay-Z did not have a fixed destiny. Real name Shawn Corey Carter, he was born in Brooklyn in 1969 and grew up with a single mother in a violent environment. On February 10, Bernard Arnault’s group announced in a press release to suspend “The ready-to-wear activity (…) pending better conditions ”, following the pandemic. But the group is concentrating on continuing the other activities of “The Fenty ecosystem, in particular beauty, skincare and lingerie”, very lucrative.
