The British postal group Royal Mail, in difficulty, plans up to ten thousand job cuts by August which could result in six thousand layoffs, he announced in a press release on Friday October 14.
The group explains that it has launched a consultation process to “adjust the size of the business in response to the impact of social movements, delays in achieving agreed productivity improvements and lower parcel volumes”which had been boosted by the pandemic.
The Communication Workers Union (CWU), which represents 115,000 Royal Mail postal workers, staged strikes in September and early October, and has threatened to stage more in the coming weeks.
