France intends to impose “compulsory isolation” for travelers arriving from the United Kingdom

While the progression of the variant of the coronavirus B.1.617.2, known as “Indian”, threatens deconfinement in the United Kingdom, France will set up a “Compulsory isolation” for travelers coming from there announced, Wednesday, May 26, the spokesman of the government, Gabriel Attal. During his traditional press conference held at the end of the Council of Ministers, Mr. Attal indicated that the date of application of this measure will be “Specified in the next few hours”.

This decision follows that of Germany, on May 23, to subject travelers from across the Channel to an irreducible quarantine period. “Germany announced additional measures a few days ago (…) for people who come from UK and France will take similar action ”, said the government spokesperson.

Until then, sixteen countries were subject to compulsory quarantine in France, including Brazil, India, Argentina and Turkey. For these territories, the police can unexpectedly check the presence of travelers at their quarantine location and impose a fine of 1,000 to 1,500 euros in the event of their absence.

Travelers must also present a negative PCR test of less than thirty-six hours (instead of seventy-two hours), or a negative PCR test of less than seventy-two hours accompanied by a negative antigen test of less than twenty-two hours. four hours.
