Prince Philip Mountbatten, husband of the Queen of England and a prominent member of the British royal family, died on Friday April 9 at the age of 99. “It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty the Queen announces the death of her beloved husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh”, said a statement from Buckingham Palace. “His Royal Highness died peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle”.

For more than seventy years he embodied an unfailing loyalty to the British crown marking his time with a personality to say the least complex. Leaders around the world have saluted his memory since the news of his death on Friday noon.
