Three of the five rockets fired on Sunday in Baghdad landed on the American embassy, a security service source told AFP, one of them crashed into a cafeteria at the time of having dinner.
It’s the first time that this rocket has hit the US embassy in Baghdad’s highly secure Green Zone, which has been regularly targeted in recent months.
The shooting takes place while thousands of protesters protested in the capital on Sunday, as well as in several other cities in the south of the country, in a tense atmosphere, after being dislodged on Saturday. In Nassiriya, security forces fired live bullets at the crowd, killing one person and wounding dozens more, according to a medical source.
