It is a big blow for Roger Federer and incidentally for the organizers of Roland-Garros (May 24-June 7), who counted on his presence to boost ticket sales. In a message posted on social networks Thursday, February 20, the Swiss said he had undergone surgery on the right knee the day before.

“My right knee has been bothering me for some time. I was hoping that the pain would pass but after a medical examination and discussion with my team, I decided to have an arthroscopy in Switzerland yesterday (Wednesday, February 19), writes Federer. The doctors confirmed that it was the right decision and are very confident about my full recovery. Consequently, I will unfortunately have to miss the tournaments of Dubai, Indian Wells, Bogota, Miami and Roland-Garros. I can't wait to be back on the courts, see you for the grass season! "
