Novak Djokovic ejects his brother from the court and wins the Adelaide tournament

There is – almost – always something going on when Novak Djokovic is on the tennis court. On Sunday January 8, in Adelaide, Australia, the Serb won his first title of the year by beating American Sebastian Korda in the final – 6-7 (8-10), 7-6 (7-3), 6 -4 –, but before raising the 92e trophy of his career, he “shown off” by demanding that his brother leave the stadium stands after the first set, which he had just lost.

During this eventful Sunday, Novak Djokovic, current 5e world-ranked tennis player, had to save a match point in the second set, won in the decisive game. In the last set, the Serb found flaws in the American’s game more quickly, 33e world player.

With this success, Novak Djokovic ideally launches his season, a week before the Australian Open, where he will try to equal Rafael Nadal’s record of Grand Slam victories – 22. In 2022, he had been prevented from participating due to his non-vaccination against Covid-19. He had been expelled from the country before the start of the tournament.

Thanks to this victory in Adelaide, Novak Djokovic, at 35, is now tied with his great Spanish rival, for fourth in the most titles won in men’s singles in the Open era, behind the American Jimmy Connors ( 109), Swiss Roger Federer (103) and Czech Ivan Lendl (94).
