France eliminated after defeat against Serbia

France was eliminated in the group stage of the Davis Cup on Thursday (November 21st) in Madrid, after defeating Serbia after the two singles. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga was beaten by Filip Krajinovic (7-5, 7-6) in the opening match and Benoît Paire was then unable to face the world number two, Novak Djokovic, imperial (6-3, 6 -3).

Finalist last year, France finished second in Group A behind Serbia but is not in the top two of the six groups that will be in the quarterfinals. The Blues had hardly beaten Japan in their first match (2-1), the point of victory was ripped by Mahut and Herbert after the defeat of Monfils.

"I was really ready for this game because we knew for a long time that it would be him or me who decided the qualification in this group", explained Krajinovic.

France saved the honor by winning the double thanks to Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hugues Herbert at the expense of Viktor Troicki and Janko Tipsarevic (6-4, 6-4).
