Jean-Michel Aulas, president of Olympique Lyonnais, has assured him and repeated many times over the past few weeks to justify his "fight" against the final stop of the French football championship, which he judges premature: the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) would never have asked the various European championships to end their season before August 3. And, by evoking this deadline, the Professional Football League (LFP) in France would have given the government incorrect information, which would have led to a decision on April 30.
UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin, however, sent an email on Friday 5 June to Mr Aulas, with a copy to the French Football Federation, in which he confirms the reality of this August 3 deadline. According to The team, who reveals this shipment, Mr. Ceferin explains that "The suggested deadline of 3 August 2020 for the national associations to provide UEFA with the list of clubs which will participate in the UEFA club competitions next season, provided that they successfully complete the admission process, has been communicated to the fifty-five member associations of UEFA several weeks ago and has been unanimously validated by the whole board ”.
"We cannot modify it at this stage and we hope that it will be officially confirmed at the meeting of the executive committee on June 17. (…) Therefore, we ask all national associations to respect the aforementioned deadline ”, adds Mr. Ceferin.
Mr. Aulas immediately reacted on his Twitter account, ensuring that it is still possible to end the season on the field: "It is possible like Spain and by playing a play-off on July to finish on August 3", he declares.

Decision expected from the Council of State
Aleksander Ceferin’s communication risks weakening the arguments developed by Jean-Michel Aulas before the Council of State, which he seized to win his case. Thursday, June 4, the Lyon leader and his lawyers requested the suspension of the decision of the board of directors of the LFP which led to the stoppage of the championship, proposed a protocol for the resumption of the season at the 28e day and claimed, failing this, that the 2019-2020 fiscal year ended in a white season.
The judge, Bertrand Dacosta, announced that he intended to close the investigation on Saturday afternoon, after the receipt of two additional documents, on the end dates of the European championships which have resumed, and on the possibility or not for the LFP organize a Ligue 1 for twenty-two teams. The order of the Supreme Administrative Court will be known " Monday or Tuesday "added the judge.
