FIFA claims repayment of 2 million Swiss francs to Michel Platini

The International Football Federation (FIFA) will appeal to the Swiss courts for a refund of 2 million Swiss francs (1.84 million euros) paid "Undue" by former FIFA President Sepp Blatter to Michel Platini, according to a document of the international football body that was consulted Agence France-Presse (AFP), Wednesday, December 11.

This payment had earned MM. Blatter and Platini suspended six and four years respectively from any football-related activity – the suspension of former captain Bleus ended in October. For this payment considered as 'Unfair'In September 2015, the Swiss courts opened criminal proceedings against Sepp Blatter, who made the payment in 2011 to Michel Platini, without a written contract, for a consultancy job completed in 2002.

FIFA has until 31 December 2019 to turn to justice. The action is directed jointly against MM. Blatter and Platini and aims to recover the sum of 2 million Swiss francs "With interest" but also the fines to which the two former leaders were condemned as well as the costs of procedure, that they have, according to the document consulted by AFP, never paid.

Sepp Blatter has always maintained that this payment was "Validated" by the relevant FIFA committees, including the Finance Committee. As for Michel Platini, who since the end of his suspension suggests that he wants to return to the world of football, he has always defended any illegal act.
