Donald Trump threatened, Tuesday, April 7, to suspend the US contribution to the World Health Organization (WHO), denouncing his management of the Covid-19 pandemic and an attitude in his eyes too favorable to Beijing.

"We are going to suspend (the payment) of sums intended for the WHO"said the President of the United States in his daily press briefing from the White House. A few minutes later, however, he backed down and said he only wanted to explore this possibility.

"I'm not saying that I'm going to do it, but we're going to examine this possibility", did he declare. "Everything seems very favorable to China, it is not acceptable", he said, without further details.

The Republican billionaire wrote a particularly virulent tweet against the organization on Tuesday morning.

"WHO is really wrong", he wrote. “Strangely, they are largely funded by the United States and yet very focused on China. We are going to take a close look at the matter ”, he added.

Trump also praised in his tweet for not following certain of the organization's recommendations. "Fortunately, I did not follow their advice to leave our borders open with China from the start. Why did they give us such serious recommendations? ”, he asserted.
