Elected for the first time in 2013, Bill de Blasio is currently in his second and last term in New York City and will not be able to run for mayor in 2021. His retirement comes when he failed to qualify for the last debates between Democratic candidates. There are still 19 candidates running to determine who will face Donald Trump in November 2020.
